Sunflowers Kaleidoscope

Sue Rioux

"Sunflowers" by Sue Rioux is a blue stained glass handheld kaleidoscope with copper-soldered trim, yellow glass rods and a beautiful dichroic glass piece on top.  This scope has an oil-filled turning object cylinder that has seed beads, coiled copper wire pieces, and dichroic glass pieces in royal blues, oranges, whites and yellows.  Sue has created a special effect by covering the 3rd side of the triangle of mirrors with a narrow photo of sunflowers.  This creates a glowing tunnel of sunflowers against a blue background.  This scope has a 2-mirror 5-point system.

Artist Info
"In my mind I see a sunset, light off the water or sea smoke. I can see it finished and I make it."

Sue Rioux has been pursuing artistic endeavors from a very young age. She started as a water-colorist, literally selling her paintings at local art shows starting at age nine. This experience taught her the critical color theory she uses to this day. She moved on to creating stained glass art of all kinds for many years. But she found her true niche designing and creating award-winning glass kaleidoscopes. Her creativity seems to have no bounds, with exquisite oil-cell kaleidoscopes, as well as her signature stained-glass barrel styles, all copper soldered and decorated with special glass details. She works from her home studio, surrounded by the nature that inspires her.
